Students, Industry Tour VMASC in May

May 2012

---------------------------------------------

On May 10, 2012, VMASC provided demos and a tour for a group of Lockheed Martin employees and graduate students from the University of Miami-Ohio as well as members of the Lockheed Martin Leadership Institute. Members of the AIAA Modeling and Simulation Technical Committee (MSTC) were also given an overview of VMASC’s research and detailed demonstrations in our on-site M&S labs.

After orientation presentations from VMASC Director of Business Development Thomas Reese and MYMIC President Bill Younger, VMASC researchers and project scientists provided each group with presentations about current M&S research projects, lab demonstration, and fielded questions from participants about the varied applications of M&S.

With lab demonstration highlighting medical M&S, transportation, analystics, robotics, virtual environments, and M&S interoperabilty, Thomas Reese states, “These presentations clearly demonstrated to attendees VMASC's passion, diversity and expertise in M&S research and developments… There was such an enormous amount of positive feedback in the form of questions, gestures and comments expressed during the visit.”

Visitor Thomas M. Verna with the Lockheed Martin Center for Innovation said, “The overwhelming consensus was that the group was energized to say the least. It was really insightful for them to see the interplay and teaming that occurs between academia, government, and industry.”

VMASC would like to thank the Lockheed Martin Leadership Institute, the members of the AIAA MSTC and the University of Miami-Ohio students and faculty for visiting our facilities and for providing such an interactive audience. We look forward to similar tours in the near future.
