JUST IN TIME FOR SUMMER: A New Robotics Camp for Kids! May 2012 --------------------------------------------- New for summer 2012, as an addition to ODU’s wildly popular Game Development Summer Camp Series, VMASC will hold a weeklong Robotics camp. The camp will run from July 30 to August 3, 2012 from 8:45am until 4:00pm each day. Registered campers will be provided a “Robot Kit”, complete with a variety of neat parts and tools. Campers will then learn how to plan, design and build a variety of wheeled robots. Programming the robots to interact with their environment and perform assigned tasks will also be covered over the course of the week. While building the robots, campers are actively engaged in learning hands-on engineering and math skills, as well as strengthening teamwork skills. Utilizing various parts to build a structure, adding sensors to provide awareness, and ramping up motors to give movement to the robots will be covered in demonstrations given by ODU VMASC expert faculty and staff. Camper-built robots will then take part in competitions - running obstacle courses, navigating out of mazes, and following complex paths. Our original Game Camp series will also be offered this summer, held on the following dates: June 25 − June 29: Digital Artist for Game Development July 23 − July 27: Introductory Game Development August 13 − August 17: Intermediate Game Development For more details and registration information, visit: http://www.vmasc.odu.edu/game_camp2012_register.html |
