VMASC Research Mission
Pursue lines of scholarly research in the areas of modeling and simulation, visualization, and M&S supported analysis that makes a significant contribution to the body of knowledge in these areas, provides solutions to significant problems facing the academic, government, and commercial partners, and advances the M&S discipline to international recognition.
Promote economic development through the continued maturation of research ideas and results into tangible products suitable for commercial development or public investment.
Support the M&S graduate program by engaging graduate research assistants in significant research topics that develop their research skills and that produce valuable contributions to VMASC's research goals.
VMASC Research Vision
Old Dominion University is the international research leader in modeling and simulation (M&S), visualization, and M&S supported analysis.
VMASC Research Clusters
The VMASC research effort is focused on both pure and applied research. Applied research areas are organized into research clusters in the following areas:
- Military/Homeland Security
- Medical
- Transportation
- Social Science
- Computation/Artificial Intelligence
- Game-Based Learning
- Enterprise Engineering
A description of these areas may be found by following the link for each cluster.
Pure research areas are aligned with the individual research faculty and fall generally along the lines of human and social behavior representation, simulation interoperability, mathematical modeling, and simulation-based engineering methods.
