Port Overview

Land-Side Handling

Once a crane operator has lifted the container from the ship, the container will be placed on the ground. The details of handling a container once it has reached port side vary depending on the design of the port and the type of available carrying equipment. In general, the crane sets incoming containers to the ground and straddle carriers move it directly to the yard, or to an immediate buffer area, from which it is then transported to the yard.
